What Is the Ideal Cage Size for a Cockatiel?
For one cockatiel, I recommend choosing the largest practical cage you can comfortably accommodate rather than treating the minimum size as a target. A cage around 24 × 24 × 30 inches can provide a reasonable starting point, but more space is always useful when the design allows the bird to stretch, climb, and move between perches. Bar spacing should generally be no wider than about 5/8 inch so the cockatiel cannot get its head caught between the bars. Horizontal bars, secure doors, natural perches of different diameters, and room for toys can also make the enclosure more functional.
