Before pickup, I recommend confirming the bird is fully weaned and eating independently. Bring a secure travel carrier, a small amount of the bird’s familiar food, and a towel or cover if the journey is long. I also encourage buyers to spend a few minutes observing the bird before leaving. Clear eyes, clean feathers around the vent, normal breathing, and an alert but relaxed posture are useful things to check.

Paperwork can vary depending on the seller, circumstances, and local requirements. I provide buyers with written sale details and the information available for the individual bird. Keep your receipt, seller contact information, and any health or veterinary records together after the purchase. If registration or other documentation applies to your particular situation, verify the requirement before completing the sale.

Cockatiel Hatch Records

A reliable hatch record should identify the bird clearly and give its hatch date or best available age information. I find this especially useful when planning feeding changes, taming, veterinary care, and future housing. If the exact hatch date is known, I prefer giving the buyer that information rather than making an unsupported age estimate.
