Cockatiels for Sale in Alaska

If you are looking for a friendly companion bird, I always tell new owners to focus on the bird’s health, weaning, temperament, and preparation for the journey—not simply color or age. I’m Mr. Parrot, and after years of working with cockatiels, those are the details I would check first.

Is it better to buy a baby or adult cockatiel?

A well-socialized baby can be easier to tame and may adapt quickly to a new home. However, I would never recommend taking home an unweaned chick unless you already have proper hand-feeding experience. Fully weaned young birds are generally the safer choice for new owners. Adults can also make wonderful companions, especially when their personality and history are already known.

What age cockatiel should I buy?

I recommend choosing a young bird that is fully feathered, eating independently, and confidently drinking and feeding without hand-feeding support. Weaning commonly occurs gradually around 8–12 weeks, although individual birds vary. Before purchase, I like to see steady eating, alert behavior, clean feathers, clear eyes and nostrils, and good balance on the perch.

What should I know before buying a cockatiel?

Prepare the cage, safe perches, toys, fresh water, and an appropriate formulated diet before bringing your bird home. Cockatiels are social and can live for many years, so this is a long-term commitment. For Alaska buyers, I would also plan transportation carefully because weather conditions can affect a bird’s journey. A reputable seller should clearly explain the bird’s age, diet, temperament, weaning status, and health history before you commit.

Evie, Female Cockatiel Bird

Evie, female cockatiel bird, has a gentle personality that makes her especially appealing to someone looking for a calm companion. She is friendly, curious, and enjoys familiar human interaction without being overly demanding. I particularly like her easygoing nature because she settles into a routine well and shows interest in what is happening around her. With patient handling, consistent attention, a nutritious diet, and a comfortable cage setup, Evie can develop a trusting relationship with her new family and become a delightful part of everyday life.
