Why does my cockatiel follow me around

A cockatiel that follows you from room to room is usually showing social attachment. These birds naturally enjoy companionship, and a bird that trusts you may want to stay close, call for you, or perch nearby. I encourage owners to reward calm behavior rather than constantly picking the bird up.

Why does my cockatiel climb on me

Climbing onto your hand, shoulder, or clothing is often simply a sign that your cockatiel feels comfortable around you. Young birds especially may explore everything with their feet and beak. Give them safe perches and supervised time outside the cage so they can satisfy that curiosity without getting into trouble.

Why does my cockatiel chew everything

Chewing is normal parrot behavior. Cockatiels investigate objects with their beaks, and providing untreated bird-safe wood, shredding toys, and other appropriate enrichment gives them something safe to work on. Remove anything painted, chemically treated, sharp, or easily swallowed.
